01.    Honeycombs of Clifton

House paint and spray paint, on metal garage door and wood siding, 2018.
Clifton, NJ

I first met Henry on Hunter mountain in the Catskills. It was nearly 7am, wandering, when a group of three invited me to join their lookout spot. Fast forward months ahead, I entered Hampshire College wide eyed and eager to express myself through music, arts, and ecology. I recognize Henry a couple weeks into our newly formed friendship. We played music together all four years, cooked dinners and deepened our sense of learning in a fertile environment along side one another. Henry is now the Director of Agriculture at City Green Farm in Clifton, NJ an organization that advocates for the access of fresh food and produce to one of the most densely populated regions in the United States. They have educational youth programs that engage inner city youth with farming, agriculture, and the native environment. We created a mural at City Green in 2018 on the main greenhouse. It is about the connection of polinators in the form of a honeycombs that surround an urban landscape inseparable from its natural ecosystem.
